They say, when you’re in your mid 20s until your mid 30s, every time you swipe through Instagram story, someone is either becoming an ‘athlete’ (runners, specifically) or tying the knot. One thing for sure, and although romantic love has no age restriction, MANY are getting married. What’s fun from swiping one wedding to another is how the personalization of weddings is becoming more and more common now. It might be a themed intimate wedding, unique souvenirs customized in a way that feels distinctly like the bride and groom”, or perhaps it’s the curated decorations that were made specifically to reflect the couple’s personalities. Everything, of course, is thoughtfully made to make the celebration even more meaningful. But another thing that’s been on the rise is how this heartfelt feeling can also come through activities that are not only for the couple to do or for the invitees to watch, but for both to participate in take home. We’re very honored for one of them to happen to be tufting activation.
It all started from a random spark of idea of some couples coming to our studio, saying how fun it would be to install one of our frames at their wedding for the invitees to try out. The result would not only be a custom-designed rug representing the couple, but also a piece created through the hands and laughter of their loved ones. A few strands tufted by the couple themselves, a section done by the bride’s mother, a touch added by the groom’s father, or even playful contributions from bridesmaids, family, and friends. A reminder of the celebration-of-love day, later placed in their home as a personalized craftwork carrying memories from that special day.
And that’s exactly what’s been happening! Starting from last year, more couples are starting to become more interested in choosing tufting as one of the activations on their wedding day. Sometimes it’s initiated by the couple, and sometimes it comes as a surprise gift activation from their loved ones. But every single time, it never fails to become a witness to a beautiful new beginning for each couple. A decoration that quietly says ‘this is something new, personal, and made with love. And there will be many more happy moments to come beyond just this rug alone!’ The designs vary too. Some couples create abstract floral designs that later become a rug placed beneath the TV in their new home. Some make figurative portraits of themselves that will later be framed on their walls as a keepsake of the day they officially began their forever. Every piece tells a different story, and every thread becomes part of a memory as the knots are tied.
To be able to witness such celebrations of love, and to somehow become a small part of the beginning of these couples’ marriage journeys, feels incredibly heartwarming for us. Because beyond the rugs, beyond the crafts, and beyond the activations themselves, what we truly get to see is love being shared. And with that being said, may love always find its way to be celebrated through little details, shared experiences, meaningful keepsakes, and the people we hold close to our hearts.
