When we first built Life Is Tuft, we dreamed of it to be a place where people can try something new, create something uniquely theirs, and unwind a bit from their day-to-day activity. We gradually come to realize how every piece holds a story: tufting of their beloved pet, their favorite football team logo, someone's own logo brand, or even their childhood favorite characters. Sometimes it's deep and introspective, other times light and playful, but always, it's personal.
As we enter our 3rd year, we're embracing this storytelling even more intentionally. We're beginning a new chapter where we dive deeper into exploring visual narrative through textures, colors, and forms. This vision is what sparked the beginning of our visual project: LIT Archive, combining creativity, story, and exploration. A medium to tell stories, both ours and yours.
To kickstart the journey, we had the opportunity to create Ripples Within, a piece we created for Binus University's Pola Padu 2025 exhibition at Kroma in May 2025. Led by Ervita Yaniaria and Luthfia Anmara Habibah Tanjung, Ripples Within is tufted by Muhammad Facile Hanif, assisted by Rintan Nirmala.
Ripples Within reflects how even the smallest ideas can expand outward and create lasting impact. Inspired by riak air (ripples), the piece follows the gentle pull of currents, just like ripples guiding a boat. Made with four tufting and punch needling techniques: cut pile, loop pile, flat pile, and long pile; and interlaced with sheer organza, it plays with depth and fluidity. Each thread holds its own journey, inviting you to look closer and perhaps discover something of your own within.
This piece was a result of our labor of love. For everyone who came by to see Ripples Within at Pola Padu 2025, paused beside it, reflected with it, or simply felt something: sincerely, thank you. There are still many stories to tell, see you in the next one.
